In 2013, Institute for Creative Civil Strategies received accreditation for European Voluntary Service (Accr.No 2013-BG-35) as a host, sending and coordinating organization.

ICCS works as an EVS sending organization, searching for European voluntary service placements abroad for Bulgarian candidates. Our host EVS projects seek to enhance the creativity of young people motivated to be involved in arts, new media and communication activities. The host ICCS’s projects promote the youth access to culture and civic participation that gives a first-hand experience in the field of creativity and new media and stimulates the entrepreneurial spirit and employability.

In 2014, the young Bulgarian visual artist ALBENA NIKOLOVA participated in an  year-long European Voluntary Service project in the youth NGO ‘ NGO Zavod O, based in  Škofja Loka, Slovenia.

Before her EVS project, Albena earned a master degree in ‘Visual and Multimedia Communication’ from „La Sapienza“ University of Rome and a Bachelor in „Fine Arts: Painting“  from the University of Veliko Tarnovo, „St. Cyril and St. Methodius“.

In 2014-2015, SLAVINA TATARSKA  took a part in 10 months long term EVS project in the Hungarian NGO ‘Azert7’ (Budapest).

Slavina’s educational background before the EVS project refers to her MA in „Comparative Political Science“ from the CEU (Budapest) and MA in „Cultural Management & Visual Communications“ from the SWU „Neofit Rilski“ (Blagoevgad). Slavina has also BA in ‘Media and Cultural Studies’ and BA in ‘International Relations and Affairs’ from the same university.

In 2015 ICCS sent the Bulgarian volunteers DENISLAVA ILIEVA and IVA LAZAROVA for the short term European voluntary Service project „Volunteers Fighting against Xenophobia“, implemented at Gaziantep Training and Youth Association, next to the biggest refugee camp in Turkey.

Before the European voluntary Service both Denislava and Iva have educational experience in the field of Cultural Studies at the Department of Cultural Studies at Sofia University „St. Kliment Ohridski“. In addition, before the project Iva has finished her international master’s programme „Media, Communications & Culture“ at Sofia University and Denislava – the international master’s program in „Balkan Studies“ at the University of Athens.

Kаtia Оwеns and Marta Оlasо were hosted by ICCS in 2014-2015, working on an year-long Easmus + EVS project ‘Art Reporters without Borders’ that promotes an intercultural awareness and understanding through art and involve the creativity of the EVS volunteers in citizen journalism and new media activities. More information about this EVS project is available here.

Маrtа Olаsо is from Cantabria (Spain) and before the European Voluntary Sevice project in Bulgaria she has completed her education in ‘Sound edition’ at CIDISI-RTV and ‘Film editing’ at IORTV.

Каtiа Оwеns is EVS volunteer from Great Britain. She decide to do EVS in ICCS before she choose the future education. She is a traveler, enthusiastic about art, film and culture.
